The most difficult thing about the issue of personal identity is to get a clear understanding of what it is about. We are so used to taking the existence of personal identity for granted that we don't even realise that there is a presupposition here and that it is questionable.
And in fact, I don't believe in this existence. I believe in that sentience exists, that is, subjectivity, but not in the existence of the subject. Some may find this position counterintuitive, but I think it is justified. I also believe that an impersonal ethical perspective, apart from the advantages it offers in terms of unifying ethics, allows us to better deal with the problem of death and the anxieties we humans may have in the face of it, and also to better address the problems of animal ethics.
